The Issue of Teenage Bedwetting
The fun of being a teenager! This is where good things start to happen like crushes, dances, dates, and fun stuff! But there are also drawbacks like homework, curfew, strict parents, and teenage bedwetting. Wait, Stop!! Teenage bedwetting? Now that is a big embarrassment!
Many people might not know it but teenage bedwetting is not an isolated issue. In fact, according to studies done by the National Kidney Foundation, it revealed that 1-2 out of 100 teenagers aged 15 has the habit of teenage bedwetting. Bedwetting is normal for kids and some of them eventually grow out of this habit but for some this is not the case which results to teenage bedwetting. There are many causes of this type of behavior like hormonal problems, psychological reason, genetics, sleep problems, medications, and others. Despite of that, many physicians are still not sure of the real and direct cause of teenage bedwetting.
Teenage bedwetting causes more complicated problems if compared to kids that experience bedwetting because of the social awareness that teenagers have. Teenage bedwetting often attacks their self-esteem. Teenage bedwetting causes teenagers to lose their self-esteem thus losing their ability to believe in themselves. They always reason out that they could not handle big tasks because the simple task of relieving themselves during night, they could not do-what more if it is a life and death responsibility? Teenage bedwetting could also interfere in the daily lives and activities of teenagers because most of them are too preoccupied thinking that their teenage bedwetting problems could strike again with a vengeance. Teenagers that are usually suffering from teenage bedwetting problems hide themselves from the social part of being a teenager because they are too embarrassed of the unexpected things that could happen once they lost control and forgot their condition.
The best thing that a teenager could do about their teenage bedwetting problem is to talk about this issue with a person that they know would understand them. Through talking, the teenager could somewhat ease the pain and embarrassment of the situation. In turn, the parent or friend who was the confidant of the person must seek to understand the teenager's bedwetting problem. Once the issue of teenage bedwetting is out in the open, ask for suggestions and help that could minimize and eventually diminish the problem of teenage bedwetting. The approach of teenage bedwetting is different from child bedwetting problem.
This is because a teenager has minimal control of the things that they are doing which could be either an advantage or disadvantage in solving the issue of teenage bedwetting. It could be an advantage in a sense that a teenager has a control of their own behavior and once they do, they could actually regulate their teenage bedwetting problem. Controlling their urinating pattern at night is not a difficult task to attend because they need to will themselves to do it. They are also conditioning themselves to control their teenage bedwetting problems because of the grave consequences once this problem persists. On the other hand, it could be a disadvantage because the problem could be too late to even regulate. Some persons who experience teenage bedwetting problems could even be dependent on drugs to solve it. Whatever the case may be teenage bedwetting problems can be solved if they are willing to help themselves.
